This package has the layout of the\nTypeScript 7 `typescript` package: the `tsc` bin, the JS API (`typescript/unstable/*`) and the\nplatform packages that VS Code finds. Install it under the name `typescript`, and the tools that\nuse `typescript` run tsc-rs.\n\nThis is an early release. Report problems at https://github.com/pingdotgg/ts-rust/issues.\n\n## Use\n\nIn `package.json`:\n\n```json\n{ \"devDependencies\": { \"typescript\": \"npm:@tsc-rs/typescript@<version>\" } }\n```\n\nOr in a pnpm catalog (`pnpm-workspace.yaml`), with `\"typescript\": \"catalog:\"` in each\n`package.json`:\n\n```yaml\ncatalog:\n  typescript: npm:@tsc-rs/typescript@<version>\n```\n\nTo also replace the `typescript` that other packages depend on, use `overrides` (npm, in\n`package.json`, or pnpm, in `pnpm-workspace.yaml`) with the same value.\n\nThen run `npx tsc -p tsconfig.json`. `tsc` takes the same options as TypeScript 7's `tsc`.\n\n`tsc --version` prints the TypeScript version that tsc-rs ports (7.1.0-dev), and so does\n`require(\"typescript\").version`. The compiler matches `typesVersions` against that version. The\nnpm version of this package is the tsc-rs version.\n\nThe postinstall makes `tsc` start without Node on Linux and macOS, about 20 ms faster per run.\nPackage managers run it only when you allow it:\n\n- pnpm: `allowBuilds` in `pnpm-workspace.yaml`:\n\n  ```yaml\n  allowBuilds:\n    \"@tsc-rs/typescript\": true\n  ```\n\n- npm 12: `npm install-scripts approve @tsc-rs/typescript` (it writes `allowScripts` in\n  `package.json`).\n- bun: `\"trustedDependencies\": [\"typescript\"]` in `package.json` (bun uses the install name).\n\nWithout it, `tsc` still works through Node.\n\n## Peer dependencies\n\nA package with a peer dependency on `typescript` sees the npm version of this package (for example\n0.8.0), not 7.1. npm then stops the install with ERESOLVE, also for an optional peer. pnpm warns.\nTo accept it, add to `package.json` for npm:\n\n```json\n{ \"overrides\": { \"typescript\": \"$typescript\" } }\n```\n\nand to `pnpm-workspace.yaml` for pnpm:\n\n```yaml\npeerDependencyRules:\n  allowAny:\n    - typescript\n```\n\n## VS Code\n\nInstall the TypeScript 7 extension\n([TypeScriptTeam.native-preview](https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=TypeScriptTeam.native-preview)),\nand point it at the package in `.vscode/settings.json`:\n\n```json\n{ \"js/ts.tsdk.path\": \"node_modules/typescript/lib\" }\n```\n\nAllow it when VS Code asks. The extension starts the tsc-rs language server and shows the npm\nversion of this package.\n\n## Effect diagnostics\n\ntsc-rs has the [Effect](https://effect.website) language service diagnostics built in (codes\n377xxx), so an Effect project needs no second compiler and no patch. They come from the same check\nas the TypeScript diagnostics, and the language server shows them too.
